Thomas Elihu “Tom” Scott, III passed away on May 27, 2022.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations of money or time may be made in support of a local Democratic candidate of your choosing.
He was the son of Thomas Scott, II and Lavonne Billingsley Scott of Henderson.
He earned degrees from Freed-Hardeman College, Abilene Christian University and Morehead State University.
After working in ministry, higher education and human resource management, he retired in 2015 as a special education teacher with the Franklin County, Tennessee school system, a role he loved best of all. He is remembered as a dedicated teacher and a caring, compassionate and accepting father, surrogate father, brother, uncle and steadfast friend with a gift for listening and understanding. He was a consummate lover of chocolate, British television drama and, above all, a really good bargain.
He is survived by two sons, Todd (Davin Swanson) Scott and Cliff (Chrissy Fischer) Scott of Charlotte, N.C.; brother, Ralph Scott; sister Susan (Frank) Scott Bradford of Bon Aqua; two grandchildren; four nieces; a nephew; and two granddogs.
