Virginia Lee Litton Pusser, 81, of Pinson the widow of Richard Joe Pusser, passed away Thursday night at her home near Pinson. Funeral services were 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 6, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue Chapel with Bro. Bobby Langford officiating. Burial was at Hollywood Cemetery in Jackson. The family received friends at Crook Avenue Chapel from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday.
She was born in Jackson and grew up in Madison County, the daughter of the late George Forrest and Georgia Lee Jones Litton. She married Richard Joe Pusser on Oct. 12, 1957, and they made their home in Bells where they sharecropped. They moved to Pinson in 1983 where she raised her children and helped raise her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and Mr. Pusser worked as a self-employed tile layer. Mr. Pusser passed away in 2006. She continued to make her home near Pinson. She enjoyed crocheting, singing, and going to church. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ near Finger.
She is survived by two sons, Joe (Clara) Pusser of Pinson and Gary Pusser of Pinson; two grandchildren, Jennifer (Bobby) Rein of Pinson and Cassie Wilcox of Jackson; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister Carolyn Noel of Bemis.
She was preceded by her parents; her husband; brother, William Litton; and seven sisters, Louise Childers, Lily Mae Pauley, Margaret Gaggley, Joann Tomlin, Georgia King, Tommye Seigler and Frances Parrilli.
