American Legion Meeting March 19
American Legion Davidson-Haltom Post 157 in Henderson will hold its monthly meeting on at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 19, at the Chester County Senior Center, 247 E. Main Street in Henderson. The American Legion is open to veterans and persons who are presently serving on active duty, with the Reserves or with the National Guard. We are also looking for new members to start Auxiliary and Sons of the American Legion chapters to our Post. Membership in the American Legion Auxiliary is open to the grandmothers, mothers, sisters, wives, and direct and adopted female descendants of members of the American Legion, and to the grandmothers, mothers, sisters, wives, and direct and adopted female descendants of all men and women who served in the Armed Forces of the United States. Membership in the Sons of the American Legion is open to all male descendants, adopted sons and stepsons of members of the American Legion, and such male descendants of veterans who died in Service or who died subsequent to their honorable discharge from such service. Each meeting of all American Legion Posts (and Post 157 is no exception) follows a specified programme including the Pledge of Allegiance and special homage to our military personnel who are still listed as Missing in Action (MIA) or Prisoners of War (POWs). All persons who meet the criteria for membership are encouraged to attend the approximately 90 minute meeting and learn what the American Legion is doing in YOUR community and what the American Legion can do for you. Pinson Ruritan Stew March 28
Pinson Ruritan Stew sale will be Saturday, March 28. Stew will be ready at 7 a.m. Pick up by 9 a.m. Cost is $18 a gallon. Please bring your own container if possible. To reserve orders, call 731-988-5240.

Easter Egg Hunt and Free Easter Dinner April 4
“Cookies” for Cancer will be having the Second Annual Easter Egg Hunt and Free Easter Dinner on Saturday, April 4, at the Montezuma Community Center from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. or until the food runs out. RSVP is required to Beth Everett at 731-658-6347 or email bethriva04@yahoo.com to make sure we have enough food to feed everyone attending. We do ask that everyone coming for the free dinner make a donation to the American Cancer Society. Dinner will consist of baked ham, potato casserole, vegetable and dessert. The Easter Egg Hunt will start at 1 p.m. inside the gym area.

Commodities Distribution April 9
From 8 a.m.-noon Thursday, April 9, Southwest Human Resource Agency will distribute commodities at the National Guard Armory in Henderson. New certificates are issued at the Southwest Community Service Center, 269 N. Church Ave. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. No new certificates will be issued on the day of distribution. No person shall on the grounds of race, color, or national origin be excluded from participation or be denied benefits, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving federal financial assistance.
