The Freed-Hardeman University Lady Lions tennis team bowed out of the Mid-South Conference’s Fall Invitational Tournament, falling in their consolation bracket match with Georgetown (Ky.) College 7-0.
With two doubles matches on the slate, the Lady Lions paired Elize Kruzan and Hannah Pearce on the No. 1 court to take on Bailee Martin and Samantha Spady where the Tiger duo won 6-3. An identical score on the No.2 court gave Georgetown the doubles point when Morgan Brown and Kennley Kirk were bested by Emma Hill and Lydia Prince 6-3.
The No. 4 singles court featured the tightest contest between Kennley Kirk and Georgetown’s Lydia Prince. After tying the opening set, a first-to-seven tiebreak was necessary – with Kirk claiming the tiebreak 7-4 to win the first set 7-6. Prince would bounce back with a 6-4 victory to force a third set where the Tiger racqueter won 10-7 to win the match.
Morgan Brown’s run on the No. 3 court also required three sets after Brown beat Madelyn Gill 6-3 in the first set, but Gill would answer with a 6-2 and 10-5 win.
On the No. 2 court, Hannah Pearce fell in a tiebreak in the first set 7-6 (7-3) before dropping the second set 6-3. Elise Kruzan took to the No. 1 court, falling 6-0, 6-1 to Bailey Martin, while Savannah Corbitt fell 6-1, 6-2 to Abby Moss.
