Hello from Enville! I hope you all had a great week. We survived more Friday night storms. Spring is the time of year we have many of our storms. I pray they will move on and move out and make way for beautiful sunny and warm weather. We have mowed our yard once already, and it needs it again soon. I really do not like all these dandelions that we have. It seems like they spring back up the next day.
Our Enville Community Club met last Tuesday night. Our speaker, Mike Smith, Executive Director of Southwest Human Resource Agency, gave a very informative presentation of what they do and what services they offer to help people in need. He gave out pamphlets for everyone to take home. We want to say thanks for taking time out of his busy schedule to come and speak to us. The club meets at 6:30 p.m. every first Tuesday of each month. If you are interested in making our community a better place to live, come join us!
The Enville Volunteer Fire Department is having a barbeque fundraiser on May 8 beginning at 10 a.m. beside the city hall. They will serve barbeque pork, chicken, bologna. Also, they are pre-selling barbeque rib racks for $20. If you want to order, please contact Chief Thomas Gilham, 731-608-0696; Danny Johnson, 731-688-5129; Parker Herndon, 731-608-5995; or any of the firemen. The Enville Community Center committee will have a bake sale in the city hall. They are taking donations for baked goods for their sale. You can help. Contact Pat Cates at 688-5125.
According to my calendar, Administrative Professionals Day, also known as Secretaries Day is April 21. To show your appreciation, you can give office cards or office snacks. This has been the practice in some places I have been involved with. Again, according to my calendar, April 22 is Earth Day. Help your community by planting a tree, recycling or using refillable water bottles. Anything to help our environment. It is the little things that can make a difference!
Enville sends out Happy Birthday wishes to Melissa Maness, Marilyn Smith Mooney and our son-in-law Kelley Collins on April 16 and Nathan Keen on April 18. Happy Anniversary to Harold and Janice Maness on April 22. We hope you all enjoy your special day!
Please be in prayer for Florence Stublaski, Deb Finley, Casey Pratt, Doris Weeks, Jean Crowell, Agnes Smith, Mary Lee Guyon, Linda and Robert Johnson, Lisa Bishop, Amanda Johnson, Janice and Danny Keen, Genny Sue Martin, Jo Marie Holmes, Jack and Tera O’Neal, Harold and Janice Maness, Wanda Ellis, Tim Hampton, Tim Harris, Jimmy Robertson, our firefighters, first responders, law enforcement and healthcare workers, those battling illnesses, those who have lost loved ones and, as always, each other.
Mark your calendars for Aug. 28 for the Enville-Wildgoose Shindig!
If you have news, call me at 688-5129, or if you want to rent the community center, call Pat at 688-5125. Have a blessed week everyone!
