As of Monday evening, Aug. 23, a total of 2,682 positive COVID-19 cases have been reported in Chester County since the beginning of the pandemic in early 2020. This is an increase of 164 cases in just the past week. Of that number, 262 cases are currently active, which is an increase of 71 active cases since last week. “Active” cases are determined by the amount of time which has lapsed since diagnosis. At 14 days out from a positive test, cases are considered inactive or recovered, with the exception of those resulting in death, and sometimes seem to cause a discrepancy between “total cases” and “active” cases. Total COVID-related deaths in the county increase this week by two, bringing the total to 54. The number of inactive or recovered cases is 2,366. The county also reports 32.63% of local residents have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccination, with 27.37% having received both doses, or series completion.
Tennessee reports a total of 997,479 cases statewide with 916,213 recorded as inactive or recovered and 13,204 deaths related to the coronavirus. Tennessee Department of Health shows 48.3% of Tennesseans have received at least one dose of a vaccination regiment.
