Members of Henderson’s Davidson-Haltom American Legion Post 157 held a flag raising at the Chester County Library on Thursday, Aug. 24. The library’s American and Tennessee flags had become worn and unserviceable, and Librarian Savannah Gilbert reached out to the community to replace them. District 72 Representative Kirk Haston sent a new Tennessee flag, and the local American Legion post brought a new American flag and held a flag raising ceremony.
According to Gilbert, a tree growing near the flagpole had snagged the flags, and workers from Southwest Electric volunteered service outside their jurisdiction to trim the branches back prior to the ceremony.
Post Commander Chris Dunbar along with Legion members Danny Eldridge and Paul Martin lowered the worn flags and raised the new ones.
