The Chester County High School Cross Country Boy team made yet another state trip for the sixth year in a row as a team and eighth year in a row counting individuals.
CCHS girls runner Bella Lamb was able to join them this year as well, as an individual in the girls state cross country race.
The results of the races are as follow:
Bella Lamb placed 54th of 249 of the state’s best runners.
The boys placed 13th out of 32 teams on Friday. Of 249 boys, Garrett Robison lead the Eagles in 44th place, followed by Silas McManus (67th), Brooks Johnson (79th), Frankie Rich, Dillion Williams, Chris Croom and Josh Roberts.
Lamb, the sole runner representing the girls team, was glad she was able to compete at state and have a presence for the CCHS girls team. “It feels good to represent the girls team and follow in Julia Briggs (2022 Girls State Cross Country runner) footsteps. I wanted to follow her lead and keep the streak going,” Lamb said.
Hatch wishes that all of her athletes had more Chester County fans watch and support this group that is amazing at their sport.
“I don’t think people realize how competitive this sport has gotten. When I first started, the winning times for boys was like 18 and girls were 20, and in the last twenty years… They had a guy today win at 15 flat. And it’s amazing that all of our top five guys can run it under 19 minutes. I just think that it’s an amazing feat that they’ve accomplished. They don’t get the support they deserve. People don’t come out and watch them and their meets and stuff except for their family and supporters. I know people get busy but I just don’t think that they realize how big these competitions are and how good Chester County is in this sport,” she said.
She congratulates her team on a job well done this season.
“Both Bella and the boys represented Chester County to the best of their ability and I thank them for every mile and every laugh. Congratulations to them on hard work paying off,” she said.
