Chester County Junior High’s Baseball team has been doing great this season thus far.
After playing five games, the Eagles sit at 4-1 with the loss against Hardeman County on March 8 being a good game.
Before that game, the Eagles won three shutouts and a blowout.
The scores against each team are as follows.
Chester Co. 3 – Decatur 0
Chester Co. 14 – Bolivar 0
Chester Co. 10 – Lexington Middle 0
Chester Co. 9 – Trinity 1
In the Hardeman County game, the first two innings remained scoreless.
Then, in the bottom of the third, the Eagles managed to take the lead after Dean Estes sent Jayce Goff home and end the inning 1-0. In the fourth inning Henderson County responded with two runs making the score 2-1.
The Eagles were scoreless in the fourth.
It was then that Henderson County put up three more runs in the top of the fifth which put Chester County behind by 4.
The Eagles gave it all they had the last inning to try to catch up and win but could not manage to do so.
With three singles hit by Goff, Tucker Mcmahan and Dean Estes, the bases were loaded.
Then Caleb Cole was up to bat. He already hit a ball deep rightfield during the game that was close to going over the fence so participants of the game felt the possibilty of a comeback. He walked though.
Nonetheless, that sent a runner home.
However a ground ball out at first and two pop fly outs resulted in the game ending. The final score was 5-3.
Head Coach Chad Hanna said he is proud of his team and how they have played thus far regardless of the loss.
“They played hard. I’m proud of them. That’s a really good team,” he said.
