On Monday Nov. 18, the Chester County Commission had their monthly meeting. During the meeting the commission approved the Animal Committee for animal control within Chester County which has been a continuous and growing problem.
“One of the largest calls to my office, and I’m sure to the sheriff’s office, is animals,” Chester County Mayor Hutcherson said.
“The Sheriff’s Department’s in the animal business,” Sheriff Blair Weaver said. “It’s an ongoing problem. It’s an expensive problem.
Those a part of the committee is Johny Garner, Tim Crowe, Heather Griffin, Sherri Mckinnon an Jennifer McBride.
During the meeting, the Southwest Tennessee Electric Membership Corporation Vice President of Engineering, Billy Gordon, spoke on Southwest’s plans on getting Broadband internet throughout the county. He mentioned how they want to do what they can for the community and be a part of it.
“I hope we’re trusted by the community,” Gordon said. “ Henderson and Chester County is a tight-knit community and we hope to be a part of that community.’’
Currently, Southwest is in the first phase of five phases to get Broadband into the counties it serves. Gordon said that they have moved forward with the engineering needed to do so, and recently have applied for a grant for Chester County to get the needed funds to make this happen.
Also, Kayla McBroom of the senior class of 2020 of Chester County High School spoke as a representative of the class’s Project graduation. The Chester County Commission approved for $500 to the project.
