The Eagles had some close games in two out of three matchups.
The first matchup was against Lexington on Jan. 14.
The Eagles made a comeback from behind and tied the score at 44 points with 4:02 left in the third quarter. Depth proved to be something the team could use more of. In hope to give the starters a minute break after tying to refresh them, Head Coach Kody Howard put in other players for that minute which came back and hurt them rather than helped them since they fell back behind at that time.
Howard was still proud of how the team played.
“Offensively we got everything we wanted when we executed,” he said. “We pretty much executed all night.”
The final score was 79-70.
The next close game was at Adamsville. It was a wild game that almost ended in the Eagles’ favor.
Chester County took the lead in the beginning, kept the lead and battled it out all night. However, the Cardinals snatched the victory away from the Eagles in the last minute of play with a one point lead. The Eagles attempted to sink some shots in the last seconds to take the lead back but were unable to do so. The final score was 61-60.
The Jan. 18 game against Bolivar Central was unfortunately a different story as the Eagles lost by a total of 40 points; 118-78.
