The Chester County High School Eagles still are trying to get their first win. Being 0-5 as of Monday Dec. 9, Head Coach Howard hopes that they win against Riverside which they played Tuesday night. If they won, they would be tied for first in the district. (Eagles have not played this game yet at printing).
“That’s all that matters. A district game,” Howard said. “These first 5 losses mean nothing to where we want to get in February.”
The teams they fell to this past week are Humboldt (80-65), Jackson Christian (70-44) and Sacred Heart (92-63).
During the Humboldt game, the Eagles made it a competition during the first quarter being a one point difference at the buzzer.
The rest of the game however they steadily fell behind with.
Unfortunately, the CCHS Eagles played catch up the whole game against Jackson Christian. At the end of each quarter up until the fourth quarter, the JCS Eagles had roughly twice as many points as Chester County.
The game against Sacred Heart started off similarly to the game at JCS according to Coach Howard.
“I was a little disheartened by it,” Howard said.
But the Eagles made a comeback in the third and were winning by 10 with the score being 60-50.
“The kids proved me wrong. The kids came out in the third quarter and played 10 or 15 times harder than the other team… It was all because of effort and playing harder than the other team.”
Nonetheless, the Eagles were only able to score three points in the fourth quarter which hurt them severely as the Knights put up a whopping 42 points for the win.
