Chester County Basketball competed in the Huntingdon Christmas Tourney December 28-30.
On December 28, the Eagles and Eaglettes had their first time of winning the same day this season. The Eaglettes defeated West Carroll 43-38 in the first round of the tournament, and the Eagles defeated Riverside 73-51.
In the Eaglettes next matchup against South Gibson, they were unable to get the win in a 57-29 loss.
In a similar game, they lost again to Camden 49-39.
Though the girls fell short in their tournament and came out with fourth place, the boys were able to go all the way and win the championship.
In the second round of the tournament the Eagles won by 10 against Huntingdon (62-52).
In the Championship versus USJ, the game started out as a low-scoring affair. The first period had a score of 3-2 with the Eagles winning, and the second period had a score of 16-8 with the Eagles losing.
The game intensified in the second half though.
After the third, the score was 28-20 with Chester County still losing.
The Eagles continued to fight to make the comeback, and Armaria Massengill tied it at 35 from the free throw line.
Then, Austin Ketchum took the lead 36-35.
After that, the Eagles managed to score four more points and only allow USJ to score two which gave them the W.
The championship win was not the only accomplishment for the Eagles though.
The victory gave the Eagles their longest winning streak of the season.
This week Chester County has Westview, Jackson Merry Central and South Gibson on their schedule.
