Once the weather starts to get cold, that means it is time to hop back indoors to watch the Chester County basketball teams take to the courts.
The Eagles started out the season with some intensity and, at the time of printing, holds a record of 2-0 with victories over Trinity Christian Academy (75-64) and Dyer County (67-60).
Chester County fans showed their excitement to be able to watch Eagles basketball again in the Chester Co. versus TCA matchup.
TCA was first to hit the boards, but the Eagles were able to tie it by the end of thefirst 18-18.
The Eagles then took the lead and were up by four points at halftime, 34-30.
The TCA Lions tried to fight back and take control when they tied it at 42, but the Eagles put up a wall and went on a 12 point run and ended the third period 54-42.
After that, the Lions never made a comeback.
Eagles Head Coach was proud of how up to 10 Chester County players made an impact that night.
“It was a good overall team win,” Chester County Eagles Head Coach Collin McPherson said. “We had some contributions from a lot of different people.
The Chester County Eaglettes played a great ball game that was going back and fourth and stayed close until the fourth period.
It was then, that the Eaglettes fell behind and lost their game against TCA, 67-55.
On Friday, they lost against Dyer County 66-44.
Though they are 0-2, Eaglettes Head Coach Lee Pipkin mentioned she was “thrilled” with their peformance to start the season against these tough opponents.
“I was really happy with how the girls played, probably because of how hard they played,” Pipkin said. I honestly was sitting there almost not believing what I was seeing. They came out and fought. They didn’t care that TCA had the reptuation that they had and they came out ready to win.”
Though they lost, Pipkin said she told her players to not put their heads down after losses.
“I told the girls this is going to be a long season. We have a tough schedule, and let’s not get bogged down with wins or losses. Let’s try to come out every night to improve on some thing and get better at some thing,” she said. “… We don’t play districts until the last two weeks of the season. That’s what we’re preparing for.”
