HOSA, a student led future healthcare professionals organization for high school students, recently held the annual International Leadership Conference June 23-26. Several Chester County High School students competed and earned the following recognition.
Second place in the Nation for Medical Reserve Corps Partnership went to the team of Jacelyn Haskins, Ava Cox, Kennedy Holman and Madison Hopper
The Medical Reserve Corps partnership competition involves a year long commitment with the West Tennessee MRC to provide emergency preparedness events, public health and strengthen the resiliency in local communities. Some of the events include flu pods, fire and tornado drills, disinfection in schools, first aid and other events. They must present before a panel of judges, deliver speeches and create a portfolio based on events conducted throughout the year.
Seventh place in the nation for Clinical Nursing went to Ireland Knight.
The Clinical Nursing competition tests the knowledge and critical thinking skills needed to treat patients in a clinical setting.
Knight has been accepted into the Nursing program at Jackson State Community College this fall.
Forty-seven states and several different countries participate to bring the brightest students together to showcase their skills.
Local advisors for these students at CCHS include: Ginger McPherson, Jesica Emerson and Mandy Coats.
“Congratulations to all these students on their success and as future healthcare professionals,” McPherson said.
