The Chester County community had the opportunity of seeing the story of a mom and daughter swapping bodies for a day in the Chester County High School Theatre program’s performances of the musical “Freaky Friday” at Williams Auditorium over the past week.
Seniors Alane Barnett and Paige Austin played the lead roles of Ellie Blake (daughter) and Katherine Blake (mom), respectively.
Barnett and Austin commented on what it was like putting the show together.
“Very exciting and also very stressful at times,” Barnett said.
For Austin, “putting this show together was a lot of chaos but also a lot of fun, and I really enjoyed growing into a family in the show and it’s been really great,” she said.
Unlike Barnett or Paige, Hunt Pipkin, who played the other main character of Adam in the musical, did not see the musical’s development as stressful or chaotic. Just fun.
“I thought this stuff was so fun. there was nothing stressful about it. I thought we were just people on stage having fun,” he said.
That being said, this is Barnett’s and Austin’s last time performing and having fun as CCHS Theatre members.
As of Saturday they said,” the feelings haven’t hit yet,” but “On the last day, we always do a senior night where we give all the seniors a gift and cry… That’s when the feelings will hit,” the two seniors said.
The students wanted to thank everyone that supported the show and went to go see it.
“Thanks to everyone who helped make this happen and thank you for coming to see the show.”
