Chester County is well represented at the various Dixie softball and baseball state tournaments with seven teams now in competition.
Among those tournaments is the Dixie Youth age 7-8 coach-pitch state tournament which gets underway at noon today, July 4, at the Dixie Youth Park off East Main Street in Henderson. The first day’s activities conclude with a rousing fireworks show.
Teams entered from the various districts include Selmer, Harriman, Greenbrier, Lookout Mountain, Madison County, Sweetwater, Summertown, Signal Mountain, Parkwood, Kingston, Fairview, Springfield and the host Chester County team.
Other Dixie teams in state events include the Chester County Dixie Ponytails, softball age 11-12, playing in the state tournament at Fairview. CC is set to take the field at 6 p.m. Friday against Houston County.
Next weekend, Chester County baseball teams in ages 9-10 and 11-12 begin play in state tournaments, and CC softball teams in ages 5-6, 7-8, 13-15 and 16-19 play in state tournaments, with Chester County hosting the Dixie Debs, age 16-19, state tournament here in Henderson beginning July 12.
