Babe Ruth said it best when he stated, “It’s hard to beat a person who never gives up.” The CCJHS Eagles Baseball team knew that they were the underdog going into Tuesday’s game against the TCA Lions. The 10 runs they scored the previous night against the Bolivar Tigers were not going to help them on this night. Jaden Weaver took to the pitcher’s mound believing in his goal, coaches, and teammates, especially his strong hold and arm catcher, Dayton Lemmings. From the first pitch to the final 94 pitch, everyone at the game knew that the Eagles came to tame the mighty Lions.
After the first three outs, the Eagles returned to the dugout fired up and ready to battle in the box. J. Weaver, Ethan Burks, Braylin Robinson, Lane Estes, and Ross Hopper kept their bats swinging and their cleats moving around the bases. In what would be the ultimate head-to-head back and forth battle, the Eagles achieved their goal of taming the Lions and pulled out a 2-1 victory as J. Weaver struck out an impressive 14 solid batters. JV Eagles followed it up with a hard fought victory of 8-5.
