Chester County Library announces summer activity awards

The Chester County Library had 33 entries in the third annual Pre K-12th grade LEGO creation contest this year! The theme was Tails and Tales, and entries were encouraged to relate to animals, animal habitats or ecosystems. Our winners for the 2021 LEGO Creation Contest are as follows:

Pre K – First grade LEGO creation winners
First place: Matilda Montague with

Summer Reading

All of the staff members at the library have been so impressed with the amount of reading the children, juveniles, teens and adults competed in our community! We want to recognize the top reader for each age range! Emma Swain read the most books for children infant up to third grade with 149 books. Kaylee Rein read the most books for juveniles in third through eighth grade with 115 books. Kenneth Kight read the most books for young adults in ninth through 12th grade with 82 books. Sarah Allen read the most books for adults with 30 books! Great job, everybody!

Creative Writing Contest

The Chester County Library hosted the second annual creative writing contest for children in Pre K-12th grade, and we had 11 entries. All entries were made into a paperback format and added to our children’s easy readers collection, making all entrants a local author! These will be available for checkout beginning Aug. 1. Winners for each category are as follows:

Pictured on this page, children participated in many programs during July at the Chester County Library, including Safari Storytime and activites, reading and writing, LEGO creations and a visit from a biologist, Dr. James Huggins.
