The Western Region 4-H Livestock Judging contest took place on Thursday, November 11 in Decaturville. Our region has 31 counties that are eligible to participate. Well over 250 contestants competed in this year’s contest. Chester County 4-H had the most participants with a record number 33 students from grades four through 12 representing Chester County Middle School, Chester County Junior High, Chester County High School, and Chester County 4-H Homeschool.
In the junior division Chester County had 2 teams. The junior team of Eli Beshires, Will Davis, Canton Taylor, and Kalaeb Weaver finished in fourth place. Finishing sixth place was the team of Bristol Cherry, Anna Tucker, Tony Lee, and Leura Rowsey. Junior teams are made up of current 4th and 5th graders. Anna Tucker took top 10 honors in the individual contest finishing in 10th place.
Chester County had 4 teams in the junior high division. Finishing second place was the teams of Brycen Faulkner, Evan Jones, Luke Moody, and Xander Swain. The fourth place team was Chris Davis, Copper Heinsohn, and Kodie Weaver. Finishing in fifth place was Cloe Foster, Will Heinsohn, and Mackenzie Stoneman. The team of Alden Henley, Sophia Vaughn, and Brendan Henley finished 15th place. Luke Moody placed third, Will Heinsohn fourth, and Chris Davis sixth in individual honors.
In the senior high division Chester County was represented by four teams. The highest placing team was Tanner Fowler, Paul Jones, Will Kemp, and Lucus Tucker finishing in seventh place. Also tied for seventh place was Daniel Anderson, Sydney Cherry, and Aja Stovall. In 10th place was Lane Faulkner, Garner Hickman, and Emily Weekley. Finishing 16th place was Colton Hopper, Jameson Rowland, and Weston Taylor. Taking sixth place in the individual contest was Paul Jones.
Practice started back in August and these students put in a lot of time preparing for this contest. They all did an amazing job competing in a very tough contest and I am very proud of all of them. I would like to say a big thanks to all of the parents for giving these students this opportunity. Also thanks to our Chester County Schools for allowing these students to leave school for practices, clinics, and contests.
