Chester County Retired Teachers Association met December 7, 2022

The Chester County Retired Teachers met Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2022 in the Hope Barber Shull Library at Freed-Hardeman University. Upon arrival members signed Christmas cards for members who are shut in or sick or who had moved. On each table was a holiday song activity that all enjoyed. The meeting was called to order by President Martha Lewis. Guest Dr. C.J. Vires was introduced.
Billy Smith led the prayer for the meal. After a delicious lunch, the group was welcomed by university President David Shannon. The Pledge to the flag was led by Ann Phillips, and the Thought for the Day was given by Joan Smith.
In old business Nancy Lofton reported on the outing to Pinson Mounds. President Lewis reminded all that yearbooks were available to those who had not received theirs earlier.
In our new business, Jane Rowlett gave a beautiful tribute to Mrs. Clara Sue Stanfill. She was a beloved member of the community and devoted employee of Chester County schools for 44 years. She will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Nancy Lofton reported on the service project for December. Monetary donations will be made to buy food to be given to the Eagles Edge. The food will be donated to families in need during the holiday season.
Our entertainment for the day was provided by Mrs. Kay Springfield and Mr. Frankie Bell. They sang beautiful selections of holiday songs. The group enjoyed singing along with Kay and Frankie. There were even jingle bells, too! The twin siblings were thanked for a very enjoyable program.
Next the group enjoyed holiday door prizes. The next meeting will be March 15, 2023.
