Chester County Sheriff’s Dept. and TBI investigate fatal hit and run

According to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, TBI special agents are investigating a homicide after a man’s body was discovered near Nolen Road in Chester County Sunday morning. The deceased individual has been identified as thirty-five-year-old Benny Wayne Maness.
On Tuesday, Dec. 22, Chester County Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy, Mark Griffin said that they are still investigating the incident.
He said that the suspect they were searching for on Monday Dec. 21, Todd Robbins, was wanted for questioning in the death investigation.
Griffin said that Robbins is now in custody in Henderson County Jail as of Tuesday, Dec. 22 on unrelated charges.
When contacted the morning of Tuesday, Dec. 22, TBI said that they had no more updates at that time.

Update

TBI reported Tuesday evening that “during the course of the investigation, Agents and investigators developed information that identified Todd Allen Robbins (thirty-two-year-old)as the individual responsible for the homicide.”

Robbins was arrested for one count of First Degree Premeditated Murder and one count of Felony Murder. 

TBI said the warrants were served Tuesday evening at the Henderson County Jail where he is being held on an unrelated charge.

It is reported that the TBI and Chester County Sheriff’s Office were assisted by the Tennessee Highway Patrol, U.S. Marshals Service, Henderson Police Department, Savannah Police Department, Hardin County Sheriff’s Office, Lexington Police Department, Henderson County Sheriff’s Office and Scotts Hill Police Department in the investigation, search and capture of Robbins.
