The Chester County Board of Education met in regular session Nov. 21.
During the celebrations, the board wanted to celebrate and recognize the Chester County High School sports that went on to compete at the State level. This includes: Austin Warren who went to the State Golf tournament and tied for 29th place; the CCHS Cross Country team who earned 13th place as a team with Evan Allen earning 2nd place and Gideon McManus earning 20th and CCHS Girls’ Soccer team who made it to the first round of the State tournament.
Additionally it was announced by CCHS Girls’ Soccer Head Coach Jason Judd that senior Claire Maxon, once its finalized, will be in the Top 10 All-time TSSAA Career Scoring Record for her achievement of scoring 161 goals and 61 assists.
“I know we didn’t bring home the gold, but we brought home a lot of successful stories. A lot of successful memories,” said Director of Schools Mr. Troy Kilzer II.
“The edge that Chester County brings to the playing field is high, and people know they have to get their act together and their game together to compete well against us.”
Next, the board approved the request of the exam exemption policy by CCHS Principal Ricky Catlett, that was introduced at the beginning of the year, to be used for the full school year. The policy states “students with no more than one (1) excused absence in the course of a trimester, a 12-week period, will be exempt from that course’s trimester exam.”
The board of education afterwards granted tenure to the following teachers: Becky Hartle, Julie Miller, Amy Turner, Leah Beaver, Jennifer Showers, Steven Marise, Davis Parten, Carla Schmitt, Linley Carpenter, Luke Lemons and Darian Leath.
According to Kilzer, “since 2011, tenure is established when a teacher has worked five years, full-time service, and within the five year window, the last two years exceeds expectations.”
