At about 6:40 p.m. on the evening of April 1, the Henderson Police Department responded to a wreck on U.S. Highway 45 near the area of Americana Inn.
A release from HPD stated that a 2003 Chevrolet Venture van, driven by Nancy Bullard of Pearl, Miss. and a 2001 Freightliner tractor-trailer driven by William Gary of Rienzi, Miss. were both southbound on U.S. Hwy 45 when the tractor-trailer was slowing for traffic as it approached the red-light at the intersection of Main Street and Highway 45.
“The van driven by Ms. Bullard, appeared not to brake for the slowing traffic and struck the rear of the tractor-trailer, causing the crash,” HPD said.
Bullard, not wearing a seatbelt, suffered serious injuries and was transported to the nearest hospital, where she later died, according to HPD.
Gary did not suffer from any injuries.
This incident is actively being investigated as of Monday April 5. The information provided by HPD is subject to change.
