On Friday, Feb. 11, the Chester County community recognized Daphane Ward’s 18 years of service to Chester County Emergency Communications and celebrated with her in her retirement.
Positions she has held at emergency communications include: telecommunications communicator, supervisor and terminal agency coordinator (TAC) through the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
Chester County Emergency Communications Director Patricia Ledford said, “I am happy and sad at the same time. Sad to see Daphane go but happy for her future. While working with her over the past ten years we all have grown to be like family. This part of law enforcement will always be a part of her. She has always been very passionate about her job and the ones she works with. On her plaque it states this was presented as a symbol of lifelong friendship, this is one of the truest statements anyone could say.”
Ward’s last radio call said: “Attention all city and county units prepare for my last radio transmission. As most of you know, I’ll be leaving my position as a Chester Co. 911 dispatcher and this is my final day. While I’m excited about my next adventure at Youthtown, there’s also a BIG part of me that’s sad to be saying goodbye to an amazing group of coworkers from all departments. I can’t tell you how much I’ve enjoyed my 18+ years in one of the most rewarding jobs on the planet. I can’t express the value of friendships I’ve made with each of you. Through the good and bad times, we’ve alwaysstuck together like glue and my friends that can never be erased from my heart. You all are my law enforcement family and will never be forgotten. This might be the end of my time with 911, but it’s definitely not the end of our friendship. I’ve learned so much from your experience, advice and guidance over the 18+ years and my time spent on this team of wonderful heroes has been a valuable part of my journey. Even though our time working together comes to a close, you all are my law enforcement family and always will be. Thank you all so much once again. Know that I’m always wishing the best and praying for you all that GOD will keep his hand on each and every hero in your department.”
