Greetings from our little community! I hope everyone has had a great week. We have sure had enough rain, but we will take it. Texas, where Orban’s cousins, live has not had any rain.
We got our new roof put on here at the homestead after losing so many shingles in March with all the high winds. Also, our church (Bethel Baptist) had to be re-roofed because of the damage there. I am sure a lot of people have had the same situation.
I want to tell you we had a hard, lengthy time getting someone to do our roof. Our home insurance company had recommended two restoration companies, and they either put us off or did not answer their phone. So I called the insurance company back, and they referred me to Midsouth Restoration in Somerville. They sent out one of their men the same day. He was so nice, and he would have inspected it right then, but it had been raining, which made it slick. It was not but a day or two until he had his estimate. The insurance company sent out an adjuster, and he agreed with the estimate, so between rains, they got it done.
Sorry I didn’t get in my news last week, so here are the belated birthdays: Michael Weaver and Tony Cupples on Aug. 9, Amber Wells and Charley Wells on Aug. 10, and Thomas Dees, Jr., Pat Rose and Will Couch on Aug. 13. I hope you enjoyed your birthday.
This week we have Kenny Mays on Aug. 16, Phillip Mays on Aug. 17, Richard Mainers and Peyton Rowland on Aug. 18, Woodie Deming, Dorothy Bratcher and Kim Ross on Aug. 19 and Judy Loftis on Aug. 22. Wishing you all the best in the year to come!
Happy Anniversary to Norma and Bobby Tulley on Aug. 20 and Linda and Jerry Dowdy on Aug. 22. Hope you all have many more years together!
Prayers please for Woodie Deming, Kristen Jones, Joyce Stewart and all our sick and shut-ins. Remember our law enforcement, first responders and our military. Also, our country!
Our devotion: “I Called You” – “‘I called you so often, but you wouldn’t come. I reached out to you, but you paid no attention. You ignored my advice and rejected the correction I offered.’ (NLT) (Proverbs 1:24)
“Why do people reject advice and correction from our Heavenly Father? Usually it boils down to pride. Pride insists we know better and can do better than God. We deceive ourselves into thinking God doesn’t have our best interest in mind. This is a lie! Start early at being humble and less prideful. You will gain much more wisdom over time and have a more successful and peaceful life. Listen to God’s advice.”
