Five Freed-hardeman University Lady Lions Named Daktronics NAIA Softball Scholar Athletes

Five Lady Lion softball players were named 2019 Daktronics NAIA Softball Scholar-Athletes: Lilly Bombard, Savannah McGraw, Kristen Hunsicker, MattiAnne Sparks and Kaylyn Graham.

McGraw, Hunsicker, Sparks and Graham were the four seniors on this Lady Lions team and were all honored by the NAIA after maintaining GPA’s of over 3.5.

McGraw appeared in 17 games in the 2019 season, batting .273 on the year and only striking out three times. Hunsicker, appearing in 39 games, had a near perfect season at third base, fielding 96.2 percent of balls hit her way. She led the team with 122 assists.

Sparks played in 30 games and only had one error on the season in the outfield with a .938 fielding percentage. Graham was the slugger on the team, leading the Lady Lions in home runs with 13, slugging percentage at .672 and RBI’s with 41.

Lilly Bombard is the lone junior on the team and will be heading into her final season this coming year. She carried a .279 batting average with 29 hits.
