Former ‘Flower Shop’ owner dies

Ossie Mae Ruth Beshires, 81, died Friday evening, April 5, 2024 at her home in Henderson. Funeral services were Wednesday, April 10, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue Chapel with Bro. Ronnie Geary officiating. Burial followed in the Henderson City Cemetery. The family received friends at Crook Avenue Chapel Tuesday, April 9.
She was born in Henderson July 2, 1942, daughter of the late Ossie Burl and Reba Mae Graves Ruth. She grew up in Henderson and attended Chester County High School. She was the City of Henderson Centennial Queen of 1960.
She was a florist and began working in the floral business with Mrs. Pearl Griffin at an early age. She and her mother bought that business in 1975. They moved to a new location in 1979, opening Four Way Flower Shop. She enjoyed making floral arrangements for families and getting to know all the people she served over the years. She was a member of Cave Springs Baptist Church.
