The Lions (3-1) dominated Central Baptist (0-5) on Thursday, knocking them off 5-1 at the University School of Jackson.
The first half was the difference for the Lions, scoring four goals within the first 30 minutes of the contest.
Kenneth Ramirez got things started just after the 10-minute mark on an assist from Stefan Cekic, and Ramirez returned the favor for Cekic, who scored in the 12th minute to make it 2-0.
Iam Matheus added to the score with a goal in the 25th minute, assisted by Joao Pedro, and then Cekic doubled his tally with a goal in the 29th minute, assisted by Matheus and Mauricio Gonzalez to make it 4-0, which the Lions would take into the halftime break.
The first 12 minutes of the second half were a stalemate before Jack O’Riordian made it a 5-0 contest in the 58th minute on Cekic’s and Pedro’s second assists in the game.
The Mustangs were able to get on the board with a penalty kick in the 63rd minute, but they were unable to muster up enough offense to get themselves back in the contest.
The Lions defense held Central Baptist to just six shots, all in the second half, with only three being on target, including the penalty. Calum Langdale recorded two saves in the win.
