Freed-Hardeman Lions fall to top-seeded Patriots

After winning their opening-round dual match, the Freed-Hardeman University Lions tussled with the No. 12 University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) in the quarterfinal round. The top-seeded Patriots downed the No. 9 seed Lions 4-0.
With the Mid-South Conference tournament being played to clinch, four matches were left unfinished with the Lions (6-10) falling in four complete matches. Aleksa Pesic and Theo Devals-Hamel dropped their doubles match 6-2 while Merlin Bolema and Maxime Guyon lost 6-4. With the doubles point clinched, Nolan Laduree and Caden Arnold had their match halted trailing 5-4.
Cumberlands (19-3) rolled through the singles with the No. 34 nationally ranked Martin Muller topping FHU’s Pesic 6-4, 6-0. On the No. 5 court, Devals-Hamel dropped his singles match 6-2, 6-2, and Arnold fell on the No. 6 court 6-4, 6-1.
Three singles matches went unfinished, with Guyon trailing 6-3, 6-5; Bolema behind 7-6, 4-3, and Laduree losing 7-5, 3-2 at the stoppage of play.
