In a revenge game from the OT loss they suffered back in December, The Freed-Hardeman Lions Men’s Basketball Team defeated the Campbellsville Tigers 80-67 Saturday afternoon at Brewer Sports Center.
Both teams got off to a relatively slow start in the first half, with Freed-Hardeman (11-8, 6-6) leading just 14-9 at the game’s first media timeout. The Lions maintained a steady 5-6 point lead throughout the remainder of the half, going into the break controlling a 36-30 lead.
The Tigers, (10-10, 3-8) however, came out in the second half with more energy and ramped up the defensive pressure, resulting in a 10-3 run to start. The Lions quickly countered with a run of their own and controlled a halfcourt pace, propelling them to a 80-67 win.
The Lions got another huge game from star point-guard Kortland Martin who put up 32 points, providing nearly half of the team’s points, 16 in each half, six rebounds and three assists. They also got a solid effort from Jeramiah Alexander, who added 10 points and two rebounds.
Up Next: After a major conference win, the Lions move to 11-8 on the season and will travel to Columbia, Kentucky to take on Lindsey Wilson at 7 p.m. tonight.
