Freed-Hardeman University crowned its 2022 Homecoming King and Queen Saturday, Nov. 12, following the men’s basketball game. John Sadler, a biology major from Katy, Texas, was crowned king and Kayley Wadlington, an elementary education major from Cadiz, Kentucky, was crowned queen.
Other nominees for king, elected by the senior class, were Nathan Brown, an accounting major from Manchester, Tennessee, and Ethan Buckner, a finance major from Mount Juliet, Tennessee. Additional nominees for queen, also seniors, were Morgan Perkins, a kinesiology major from Iuka, Mississippi and Brooke Roberts, a biology major from Knoxville, Tennessee.
Wadlington is president of the Student Government Association and a member of University Chorale, Alpha Chi National Honor Society and Chi Beta Chi. In addition, she appeared in  theatre productions and will be a Makin’ Music hostess. “I appreciate that I have been cared about and guided toward what is important while at FHU,” she said. She expects to miss spending time with her closest friends every day when she graduates. “I know there will never be a time quite like this again,” she said. She is the daughter of Tim and Melyssa Wadlington.
Sadler has been an officer, including vice president and president of Xi Chi Delta, and is active in the FHU chapter of Remote Area Medical. Since FHU is 11 hours away from his home, he doesn’t get to see his family often. “Freed-Hardeman has given me a family that goes beyond just blood,” he said. “I have gained my brothers and sisters on this campus.” He is the son of Stephen and Carrie Sadler.
