The Lady Lions (10-11, 4-10 MSC) fell 78-54 to No. 1 Campbellsville (11-0, 7-0 MSC) on Saturday Jan. 30 to close out their six-game home stand.
The first half was a defensive showdown, led by the Campbellsville press, which caused the Lady Lions to turn it over 15 times in the first 20 minutes. FHU did their part defensively, though, forcing the Tigers to take tough shots, which they were able to convert.
Despite outshooting the Tigers in the first half – 52 percent to 50 percent – Campbellsville’s relentless defense led them to a 12-point halftime lead.
The pressure intensified for the Tigers in the second half, forcing the Lady Lions to turn it over 11 more times in the final two periods on their way to the win.
Caroline Chambers was unstoppable for the Lady Lions, scoring 20 points on 9-of-13 shooting from the field. She also pulled down 11 rebounds for the double-double.
Chynia Brooks had 12 points and six rebounds off the bench for FHU.
The Lady Lions will begin a five-game road trip on Thursday Feb. 4 when they travel to Life University. Tip-off is schedule for 4:30 p.m. central standard time.
