Freed-Hardeman University Lions fall in late innings

After winning the series’ first game, the (RV) Freed-Hardeman University Lions fell in game two to the University of Pikeville (Ky.) Bears 4-2. The Lions outhit the Bears 7-6.
The Lions (11-9, 1-4 MSC) started the top of the first inning off strong, with Christian Presley getting the ball game going with a lead-off double. Then, Will McCall gets the Lions on the scoreboard with an RBI double to make the score 1-0. However, the Bears (7-9, 1-4 MSC) answered in the bottom of the first inning with a run to tie the ballgame 1-1.
In the top of the second inning, Anthony Jarvis reached first base due to a fielding error and moved to second base due to a single by Adam Smithson. Christian Presley helped the Lions take back the lead 2-1 with an RBI double.
The Bears held the Lions to no more runs for the rest of the ballgame. However, the Bears were able to add on three more runs to split the series for a game three rubber match. Christian Presley led all of the Lions hitters with two hits, which were doubles.
Luis Torres-Lopez (2-2) received the loss after pitching seven and one-third innings while allowing six hits and striking out ten batters. Cam Jennings finished out the ballgame while pitching two-thirds of an inning.
Up Next
The Lions will be back in action tomorrow, March 5, as they will play their final game against the University of Pikeville Bears starting at 11 a.m.
