Freed-Hardeman University momentum continues through strong U.S. News & World Report, ranks high

Building on the momentum of two years of record enrollment, Freed-Hardeman University has again received strong rankings from U.S. News & World Report. FHU is included in the top one-third of Regional Universities in the South and eighth in Best Value Schools in the organization’s 2021 Best Colleges report.
The magazine annually ranks nearly 2,000 institutions based on the following criteria: outcomes, 35 percent; faculty resources, 20 percent; expert opinion, 20 percent; financial resources, 10 percent; student excellence, 10 percent; and alumni giving, five percent. The magazine uses only quantifiable data. The Best Value ranking specifically considers a school’s academic quality and the 2019-20 cost of attendance for a student who received the average level of need-based financial aid. The U.S. News & World Report guidebook may be purchased beginning Oct. 27, 2020, at various retail outlets.

In the midst of the pandemic, Freed-Hardeman University set enrollment records for Fall 2020. Total headcount reached 2,188 students, with 1,727 of those being undergraduates. Both are all-time highs. First-time, full-time undergraduate students in Henderson increased by eight percent. The total, 410 students, is the most since 2014, and the number of residential students, 1,132, is a 10-year high.
