Handy Hardware owner buried

Clovis D. “Buddy” Parsons, 90, of Henderson died early Thursday morning, March 30, 2023, at his home in Henderson. Funeral services were Saturday, April 1, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue Chapel with burial at Cave Springs Cemetery.
He was born July 2, 1932, in McNairy County and grew up in McNairy, Tipton and Chester County.
He served 33 1/2 years in the military including U.S. Army, the Tennessee National Guard, Louisiana Guard, Mississippi Guard and finally the Army Reserves with the 412th Engineering Command of the US Army Corps of Engineers retiring as Sergeant Major in 1987.
He moved to Henderson in 1989 and owned and operated Handy Center Hardware. He was active in the Chester County Lions Club and was a member of the Henderson Church of Christ. He was and his family is eternally grateful for the compassion and love given by his caregivers, Lori Thomas, Georgia Finch, Johnnie Leopard, Rita Wilson, Marissa Hunt and Carolyn Johnson.
He is survived by his sons, David (Becky) Parsons of Bartlett and Kenneth “Kenny” (Julie) Parsons of Pensacola, Fla.; daughter, Michelle (David) Taylor of Lakeland; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren with one on the way; and by his life-long love and companion, Bobbie Sue Newman of Henderson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, James, Vernon, Charles, Jack and Lester Parsons; and sisters, Martha Louise Rowland, Evelyn Brigman, Reathal Rowland, Geneva Newman, Geraldine Curtis, Lona Ree Simpson, Frona Cox, Donna Ervin, Dosie Phyier and Dora Cox.
