Henderson City Board meets at 7 Thursday, January 12

The Henderson City Mayor and Board of Aldermen are scheduled to meet at 7 tonight, Thursday, January 12, in the council chamber of the City Hall.
Items on the agenda include a public hearing to discuss the city’s intent to submit an application for a FY2023 Community Development Black Grant (CDBG) identifying community needs and how CDBG funds can be used, a public hearing where citizens are encouraged to discuss community parks and recreation and discuss the city’s intent to apply to the State of Tennessee Dept. of Environment and Conservation for a Local Parks and Recreation Grant (LPRF). Matt Wood of ATA will present a report on the June 30,2022 City and Utility Department Audit Report.
The city will consider passage of an ordinance on the final reading amending the personnel policy to reflect the change made to the Fire Chief position converting it to a 40-hour-per-week schedule.
The board will also consider action on a proposed ordinance to amend the Municipal Zoning Ordinance in order to permit Solar Power Facilities within residential and commercial districts as uses permitted on appeal, with a public hearing on the proposed ordinance and consideration of passage of the ordinance pertaining to Solar Power Facilities.
Other items on the agenda include the following:
• Consider action on a proposed ordinance to amend the Municipal Zoning Ordinance to allow Electric Substations as uses permitted in commercial and industrial districts, with a public hearing on the proposed ordinance and consideration of passage of the ordinance pertaining to Electric Substations.
• Consider an ordinance amending the personnel policy pertaining to the probationary period for first responders (police officers and firemen).
• Consider approving the mayor’s recommendation to appoint Farris Stout to the Planning Commission to replace Emily Johnson who is resigning from the commission due to moving outside the Planning Region
• Consider bids received for Paving and Gravel to be used by Public Works until June 30,
2023.
• Consider approving the proposed Fire Department Captain Pay Scale.
• Consider purchase of an equipment mounted hydraulic jack hammer for the utility department.
• Recognize Utility Employees Dorsey Talley, Garrett Hathcock and Ben Quarles for passingtheir Water Distribution – Grade II certification.
