Hello to everyone! I hope you had a great week. For this is the day the Lord has made, be happy and enjoy it. Well, another month is gone, ending with fall celebrations like Halloween and Harvest Day.
With October ending November is here. People are getting ready to complete the annual ritual of “falling back” as we move away from Daylight Saving Time this weekend. Daylight Saving Time ends at 2 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 7, which means you will need to turn your clocks back an hour before you go to bed on Saturday night, Nov. 6. Have you ever wondered why we turn our clocks back at 2 a.m.? According to Live Science, the 2 a.m. time was selected because it was deemed to be the least disruptive to most people’s lives. Almost everyone is at home asleep; bars and restaurants have likely closed; and few businesses are impacted by the extra hour. You know that was the life style back in the 1900s! I personally wish it would stay the same all year round!
November is also American Diabetes Month and National Adoption Month. Nov. 11 is Veterans Day, and on Thursday, Nov. 25, we will celebrate Thanksgiving Day. This is a time when family, friends and loved ones can come together and give thanks for each other along with a good meal.
The city of Henderson would like to say congratulations to a friend, supervisor and a co-worker from Southwest HRA, Head Start. Ms. Carrie Williams Buck has worked for Head Start for 43 years. She was the Queen of Head Start. On Oct. 29, she officially retired. The knowledge, experience and that BIG smile will be missed. The City of Henderson and Southwest HRA pray that you will have a blessed and wonderful retirement.
At this time I need to say, “Thank you, to my dear, sweet husband Mr. Frank Holiday.” On Oct. 26, he had balloons and flowers delivered at my work. He cooked me the most wonderful meal. Of course, most of you know he is a chef. I received so many texts, Facebook messages, phone calls, cards and gifts. It was a blessing! The only sad part of it was I did not have my twin, my aunt Georgia, with me to celebrate together. We always talked with each other and celebrated our day! Aunt Georgia would have been 88 years young. I miss and love her so much, but the memories are great!
On Oct. 28-30, I did not get to attend the FHU rummage sale because I was at home with a sinus infection, but I heard it was great. I was looking forward to it and the same thing for the park. I heard from some of the parents that there were so many children out there, and they had a wonderful time. Thank the Lord that the families are having fun and staying safe at the same time.
On the Birthday list for this week is Melissa Bay, 11/10, and Candace Cole, 11/11. We pray the Lord will bless you with many more!
