Hello to everyone! For this is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad! It is great to be with you in this last week of November. Before anything else is said, let us do this: 1 Thessalonians 5:18 reads, “In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” Psalm 136:1-26 – “O give thanks unto the LORD; for He is good; for His mercy endureth forever.” I would like to take this time out just to give thanks for all that we have here in the United States of America.
I hope each and every one had a wonderful week and a great Thanksgiving. You know that I love this time of year like so many of us do. It is a time when families can come together and have a wonderful, blessed time. Even though I do not have my mom, Mrs. Annie Clay, instructing me on how to make all of our favorite dishes for Thanksgiving, I cherish the memories I have with her. While she was on this earth, I and my family learned so much from her and from my father, Mr. Parnell Brown. They taught us how to love people even our enemies. The number one thing my daddy would tell us is that blood is thicker than water. In other words, love your family! We are blessed to have so many great memories! Just like you have so many great memories of your loved ones! So today and every day, let us just tell the Lord, “Thank You!”
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.” – Philippians 4:6
Let us not forget about our soldiers, so to all of our soldiers who celebrated Thanksgiving away from home, we do appreciate you; thank you for your service, and I pray you had a blessed Thanksgiving! Let us not forget to pray for OUR UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!
The city would like to say Happy Birthday Shalonda Burton, who celebrated on Nov. 25. Happy Birthday to Eboni Burton on Nov. 25 and Shameka Johnson Nov. 26. Shameka is employed with Southwest HRA as a Head Start Family Case Manager Coach. Happy Birthday to my daughter Glorina Holiday Elam; she celebrated her birthday on Nov. 29. We pray that you will have many more.
If you live in the City of Henderson and have news about your family, birthday, anniversary, announcements, and things happening in the City, I need to hear from you. Call me at 608-6132 and leave your message or you can text me. HAVE A GREAT WEEK!
