Henderson hires new fire chief

During the Thursday, Nov. 10 meeting of the Henderson Mayor and Board of Aldermen, the final reading of the ordinance to amend City Zoning to permit Electric Vehicle Charging Stations within the B-1 (General Business), B-4 (Highway Business) and I (Institutional) Districts as Permitted Uses passed with all in favor.
The final reading of an Ordinance to amend Water, Sewer and Natural Gas tap fees and new service fees also passed with all in favor.
The board approved the low bid of $176,956.80 from R. Jones Underground for the Highway 45 North Water Line project. A resolution was not needed. All were in favor.
After the work session that occurred Monday night, Nov. 7, the consensus of the five present board members was to hire William Douglas Acred as Henderson Fire Chief with a mid-scale salary of $64,929.05 annually. All aldermen were in favor of the hire.
The aldermen approved the purchase of Water Main material for two short extensions that will be installed by city forces with all in favor.
Earlier in the meeting when mentioning the paving of Hill Street, Christie Loop, Mifflin extended, and other streets, City Recorder Jim Garland said that North Avenue will be paved as well when the water line gets done.
On December 8, the city will hold their Employee Christmas Lunch. The city’s doors will close at 11:30 a.m. and will open back up at 1 p.m.
