Henderson Sonic owner George Dieckmeyer dies

George William “Billy” Dieckmeyer, 73, of Henderson died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2022 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Graveside funeral services were 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 22, at Chester County Memory Gardens with Bro. Stan Smith officiating.
He was born in Charleston, Mo., on July 26, 1948 and was the adopted son of William and Myrtle McDaniels Dieckmeyer. He grew up in Charleston and was a 1966 graduate of Charleston High School.
He married Marilyn Grant on March 20, 1974, and they made their home in Humboldt where he worked in the grocery business until 1988. He then bought controlling interest in Sonic of Henderson, and they moved to Henderson. He served as General Manager and was affectionately known by his employees as “Mr. Bill.”
