Greetings from Hickory Corner!
A day for remembrance: if you did not attend the Memorial Day Service on Monday, May 30, at City Hall to honor our military veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice, you missed a good service. I could not believe the slides that showed American War dead in overseas military cemeteries from around the world. A very touching service. Thank you to all those that took the time to put on this service. God Bless all those who serve in the military.
After the service I visited my nephew Willie Newsom and his wife Frances. Willie is a Vietnam Veteran. I took him a pecan pie, and I had a great visit catching up.
Random Act of Kindness: I had a chocolate milk shake delivered to my house last week by my niece Brenda Bishop from McKenzie and my sister-in-law Ellna Roland. I enjoyed the shake and their visit. Come back anytime!
My daughter Cindy and granddaughter Makenzie are here visiting from Illinois. They arrived Sunday. Shortly after they arrived, we had company from Glen and Barbara (Patterson) Smith and their kids, Valerie Breault and Keith Smith from Bartlett. Cindy was glad to visit with her aunt, uncle and cousins. We had some good laughs.
Wishing a happy birthday to all those with birthdays this month, including Joyce Clayton (6/4), Ruby Hanna (6/10), Raven Maness (6/12), Erma Lee Morris (6/25) and Patricia Jones (6/27). Happy birthday to my daughter Cindy Lucas (6/13).
Happy belated Anniversary to Lonnie and Shirley Morton who celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary on June 2 and Happy Anniversary to Frank and Diane Clayton June 8. Hope you all had a blessed day reminiscing about your younger days.

Flag Day, a day set aside to honor our national flag, is June 14. “When we honor our flag we honor what we stand for as a nation – freedom, equality, justice and hope. (Ronald Regan) (quotesgram.com). Proudly fly your flags.
Remember in prayer Arlin Porter, Richy Butler, Ladelle Clark, Mildred Smith, Martha Autry, Ann Morrison, Bonice Martin, Peggy Whitman, Peggy Lard, William and Eddie Luttrell and Donna Lynch. Continue to pray for each other, our country and our world. Sympathy to all those who have recently lost loved ones. If you would like to add or remove a name from our prayer list, please call me.
Do you feel like sometimes you have too much to bear? If so, this is for you:
“Keep your eyes on Me! Waves of adversity are washing over you, and you feel tempted to give up. As your circumstances consume more and more of your attention, you are losing sight of Me. Yet I am with you always, holding you by your right hand. I am fully aware of your situation and I will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able to bear. Your gravest danger is worrying about tomorrow. If you try to carry tomorrow’s burden, you will stagger under the loan and eventually fall flat. You must discipline yourself to live within the boundaries of today. It is in the present moment that I walk close to you, helping you carry your burdens. Keep your focus on My presence in the present.” (Jesus Calling by Sarah Young).
I need all of your support for this article. Please call me with tidbits and news at 989-3315. You can share your vacations, birthday, anniversaries, and much more!
Make it a great week!
