Greetings from Hickory Corner!
Are you loving our weather? It has been nice out, not too warm and not too cool. Fall begins Sept. 23, and I am ready for some fall weather. Almost time to get those pumpkins out!
Do not forget the 45th Annual BBQ Festival is on Sept. 23. Is anyone interested in the Hog Callin’ contest? I have always enjoyed attending the festival, but I will already be moved to Illinois so will miss it this year. Maybe I will return next year for it!
Is there anyone in the community that would be interested in writing the Hickory Corner News? I have talked to a few people, but so far no one is interested. Please someone consider writing because I would hate to see it end after all these years. I want to read the news when I am in Illinois and know what everyone is doing. Please let me know or call the paper and talk to someone there. I would be happy to answer any questions you may have. Maybe just give it a trial run.
My niece Donna Patterson McAllister and Ed are visiting from Illinois and are staying in a cabin at Chickasaw. As always, Donna and Ed hosted a lunch gathering last Saturday for some of us. In attendance were Glen and Barbara Smith, Ellna Roland, Ann Morris, Janice Schultz, Brenda Berryman, Stan Patterson, Tony and Janya Roland and sons, and myself. It was a perfect day. Good food, lots of laughter and old time memories shared. Stan did not disappoint us and provided us with lots of laughter. Ellna and Ann sang a song for us, and they were amazing. I did not know they could sing like that together. It was a good way for me to see many relatives before I move. I will miss all the Patterson family. They are such good people. Thank you, Donna and Ed, for hosting all of us.
My son Terry and his wife Jo are here and helping pack everything up. My other kids will be here in a few days. I can not believe moving day is almost here. I will miss all of you. Keep me in your prayers as I begin a new chapter.
Please remember in prayer Ladelle Clark, Mildred Smith, Martha Autry, Bonice Martin, Peggy Lard, Donna Lynch and Lonnie Morton. Continue to pray for each other, our country and our world. If you would like to add or remove a name from our prayer list, please call me. I do not like to add/remove a name without permission.
If you would like to rent the HCC Center for a special event, please call Nancy Patterson at 608-1159.
I need to hear from you! Please call me with tidbits and news at 989-3315. You can share vacations, birthdays, anniversaries, memories and much more. I look forward to hearing from you.
Make it a great week!
