Greetings from Hickory Corner!
Although I am no longer living in the Hickory Corner Community, I wanted to write one last time to say goodbye to all my friends, family and readers. I arrived to my new home in Pekin, Ill., last week and am still getting things organized. It is a beautiful townhouse, and I love it. The best part is I am living close to all three of my children and many of my grandchildren and great-grandchildren. I have a niece here, too. That does not mean the adjustment is easy. I have been a member of the Hickory Corner community for over 36 years, and I will miss my old life with so many memories. I will especially miss going to The Pig where you always see someone to chat with, shopping downtown Henderson, especially at Merle Norman, and getting a burger at Bell’s, but I am ready for a new chapter.
I have many great memories of the activities and events at the HCC Center and the fun and fellowship that took place over the years. James and I always enjoyed going to things there. Please support the center. If you are a member, please stay involved. Do not be afraid to offer new ideas and to volunteer.  If you are not a member, please consider attending the next event and see what you are missing out on and then join for a small membership fee. It is good to know your neighbor, and I know there are people that have moved into our community that many may not have met yet. There is a nice young couple with kids that bought my house, and I hope you all will stop by to meet them.
A big thank you to my good friend JoAnn Clayton and her children, Mike, Jeff, Stacy, Patricia, Pam and Kim, along with their spouses for the wonderful dinner they provided to us Saturday evening after we packed the moving truck all day. Every single item was delicious, and we all appreciated the great food. I just can not tell you how nice it was for all of us to sit down and relax and visit with everyone. Stacy made it even better by entertaining us with his guitar and singing. Stacy, you belong on the big stage! I will miss my good friend and like a sister, JoAnn, but we will keep in touch by phone.
Thanks to Bonice Martin for the beautiful throw. I love it. Bonice, you and Ermalee take care of yourselves.
Thanks to all those that stopped to say goodbye and wish me well. Also, thanks to those that called to say goodbye. It meant a lot to me. My last few weeks were busy, and there were many I meant to visit with but did not get a chance to do so. I can be reached by my cell – 731-435-9096, and my new address is 2741 Village Court, Pekin, IL 61554. I hope to hear from you sometime.
Looking forward to coming back for a visit and seeing everyone. Until then…Make it a great week and spread some kindness.
