Johnson charged in police chase, shooting

Jacob Johnson, 24, of Henderson, was identified as the man involved in a car chase and shooting Monday, Dec. 4. As reported last week, the Chester County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a driver of a silver vehicle on Hwy 100 West waving a handgun. Upon making contact with the vehicle, a sheriff’s deputy attempted a traffic stop. The driver then reportedly fired a single round at law enforcement, striking a Henderson Police Department vehicle.
A vehicle pursuit proceeded as the suspect then headed north on Highway 200. The suspect reportedly lost control of his vehicle south of Rabbit Ranch Road, wrecked and then fled into the woods.
According to the CCSD, the suspect, Jacob Johnson, was apprehended, and the firearm was recovered. Johnson was arrested and charged with reckless endangerment, reckless driving, driving on a canceled/revoked or suspended license with priors, leaving the scene of an accident, speeding, six counts failure to stop at all stop signs/signals, violation of lane law, three counts criminal responsibility for attempted first degree murder, aggravated assault on a public employee, possession of a firearm during commission of a dangerous felony, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon and evading arrest. He was arraigned in Chester County last week, and is next scheduled to appear in Chester County General Sessions Court at 9 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 18, 2024. He is currently being held in the Chester County Jail in lieu of a $500,000 bond.
