Letter To The Editor: Heart to Heart about Christmas

Dear Editor,

The Christmas season warms my heart as I see people become kinder, gentler, more loving and more generous to each other. Most people, not all, still say, “Merry Christmas,” in spite of all the attempts to stifle it, but no matter how hard they try, the world can not take Christ out of Christmas.

A lot will shun the word Christmas and say, “Happy Holidays,” because it is derivative of Holy Day. Christmas is holy and sacred to me; it means a celebration of the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. No gift is perfect but one – a gift of life, our source of joy and deep satisfaction, Christ.

Christmas music warms the heart; it tells us the old, old story of Jesus and his Love. How sad it is that the name of Jesus is becoming more and more offensive to so many people today. They will be calling on that name one day, but it may be too late. He is the abundant of life here after. What a joy it is to give gifts and just to see the pleasure of all those wonderful smiles on children’s faces.

But last of all, Christmas gatherings are so special and meaningful. It is wonderful to spend the time with family and friends. I am not a perfect person, but I try to make my home open as a place of refugee from all the storms of life for those in need.

Christmas is when all those precious grandkids are in our home. They bring no worry and no problems, just joy, laughter and a special love to our hearts.

Let us keep that sweet, sweet spirit of kindness, gentleness and loving generosity in our hearts all the time. We need to pray for our country and all others at this time. God bless everyone and a Merry, Merry Christmas to all.

Sincerely,

Imogene Naylor
