The people of Chester County celebrated Veteran’s Day with programs from the different local schools, a Veteran’s Day Parade, a program at City Hall and more.
The parade and City Hall program took place on Veteran’s Day. Kids of the Chester County Middle School thanked those who served the United States and gave them thank you cards that they crafted themselves on Veteran’s Day as they walked into the school. During part of the ceremony, some children also gave their parents, grandparents or cousins a special thanks on-stage for all they have done.
Congressman Mark Green was the keynote speaker for the City Hall program. Green is also a veteran. He served in the Army for 24 years with two trips to Iraq and one to Afghanistan. He was awarded the Bronze Star, the Air Medal with V Device for Valor and others for his mission to capture Saddam Hussein whom he interrogated for six hours.
Green’s message was for the people of Chester County to first know that Veteran’s Day is a day to celebrate those who have served for the United States and to know why the U.S. makes the holiday such a big deal.
“It’s the courage of our men and women who serve our great country that makes veteran’s day so special, and it’s that courage why we should make such a big deal about Veteran’s Day,” he said. “Our veterans they may sweat. They may shed tears. They may bleed, but they will never stop fighting for the freedom of this country.”

The Freed-Hardeman University Chamber Singers sang the National Anthem and Armed Forces Medley at the Veteran’s Day ceremony at City Hall.
Chester County Middle School Student Braxton Johnson introduced his father Scott Johnson to the community and thanked him for his service as a flight doctor in the Air Force.
