The Theta chapter of The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International (DKG) attended the Tennessee State Convention held at The University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee from May 30 to June 1, 2024. DKG, a professional honor society for women educators with a membership exceeding 50,000, is globally recognized with establishments in 17 countries. The Society is committed to fostering the professional and personal growth of women educators and promoting excellence in education. Comprising members from Chester and Madison Counties, the Theta chapter was well represented at the state convention, with five of its members in attendance. The convention featured workshops on education, society business, and personal interests, with the keynote speaker being DKG International First Vice President Connie Rensink. Notably, Regina Karnes, a dedicated 19-year member and retired Chester County special education educator, was honored with the Order of the Rose Award for her exceptional contributions to the chapter and the community. The Theta chapter, established in 1939, continues to play a significant role in the education landscape, hosting a variety of impactful projects such as UNICEF for GIRLS (Girls Initiative to Revitalize Learning Success), Student Essay Contests, and Teacher Grants-in-Aid.
