M. D. Anderson Planetarium announces May schedule

The University of Memphis Lambuth M. D. Anderson Planetarium presents weekly public shows at 5:30 p.m. Tuesdays and at 1:30 p.m. Fridays; as well as monthly late shows on the last Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m., a Kids’ After School Special the second Friday of the month at 3:45 p.m. and a Kids’ Saturday Morning Planetarium Show the fourth Saturday of the month at 9:30 a.m.  
The schedule for May 2023 includes:  

  • Tuesday, May 2, 5:30 p.m. – “Hubble Vision” Friday, May 5, 1:30 p.m. – “Hubble Vision”
  • Tuesday, May 9, 5:30 p.m. – “Chaos & Order”  
  • Friday, May 12, 1:30 p.m. – “Chaos & Order”  
  • Friday, May 12, 3:45 p.m. – Kids’ After School Special Planetarium Show – “The Cowboy Astronomer” 
  • Tuesday, May 16, 5:30 p.m. – “Oasis in Space”  
  • Friday, May 19, 1:30 p.m. – “Oasis in Space”  
  • Tuesday, May 23, 5:30 p.m. – “Two Small Pieces of Glass”  
  • Friday, May 26, 1:30 p.m. – “Two Small Pieces of Glass”  
  • Saturday, May 27, 9:30 a.m. – Kids’ Saturday Morning Planetarium Show – “Tales of the Maya Skies”  
  • Tuesday, May 30, 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. – “TimeSpace” 
    Doors open 15 minutes before showtime. For safety reasons, there is no seating once the “IN USE” lights are on. No food or drink is allowed in the auditorium.    
    Schools or groups interested in scheduling a show should email planetarium@memphis.edu, or call Holley Wood, coordinator, by phone at 731-425-7368. Presentations are free to groups and individuals, with free parking in Hyde lot.
