Hello to all from this little corner of the world. Sunday was a beautiful, sunny day. The skies were a very pretty blue with puffy grayish-white clouds noted. There is a slight breeze, and the temperature was 46 degrees. Sunday night was supposed to be 24 degrees; after that, we steadily climb into the low 40s at night. Our birds are visiting, but no cardinals at present.
Storms rolled through Saturday night and parts of the country were hit pretty hard. Clarksville and around that area had a lot of damage. There were 24 hospitalizations and four or five deaths, one being a child. This information was from the Sunday morning news. Please pray for all affected by these storms. Three years ago, Mayfield, Ky., was hit badly.
I hope everyone enjoyed the Christmas Parade. The nightly news on WBBJ videoed it, and it was lovely, especially showing off our downtown lights. A small town does have a lot to offer in many ways. Sometimes, it is also what one puts into it, whether monetarily or volunteering. We all serve a purpose.
I enjoyed/appreciated Pat N. Jones including our 50th anniversary in her news last week. As many know, we are cousins through our mothers. They were first cousins. I did not know of her mother’s death until after I married, but it is a sad remembrance, too. The picture of her mother was wonderful. Her mother was a very polite, sweet, kind Christian woman. She kept a very tidy home and was very neat with her appearance. I guess my mother and her both tried to keep those nice figures. I remember my mother doing bicycle exercises and touching her toes when I was young. Bobbie Faye followed in the nursing profession, and I am sure if she was your nurse you were truly cared for. I, too, became an LPN. I loved nursing and helping people and though retired, I continue to try and help others. I have a heart for caring as she and many others do. We appreciate all the warm wishes and those who were able to attend our celebration.
Condolences to those who have lost loved ones. Also, pray for all those sick and suffering. There is so much illness going around. Please social distance, wash hands, use hand gel, sneeze/cough into your elbow and do not share drinks. Strep throat, RSV, upper respiratory and COVID are very much alive and waiting.
Happy Birthday to Colton Lowrance. 12-12; Chastity King and Jan Haskins, 12-13; and Lauren Johnson, 12-15.
Happy Anniversary to Sue and Jim Newsom, 12-14.
Please continue to remember these in prayer – Carey Barham, Wesley Bates, Paula Berry, Marie Bishop, Jackie Chambers, Rickey Clayton, Jerry Cloud, Boyd Cupples, Vicki Dickson, James Ellis, Joie Freeman, Joey Harris, Jennifer Gateley, LaDawn Hayes, Johnny Hays, Danny Hodges, Donna Johnson, Pat N. Jones, Shirley Kendrick, Bobbie Wyatt King, Doris McKinney, Martha Mainord, Deana Morris, Jim and Sue Newsom, Tom and Cissy Nichols, Julia Parchman, Beth Plunk, Trudy Powers, Pam Priddy, Karon Reinmann, Aaron Rees, Cathy Sisson, Jacob Thomas, Kevin Thurman, Lee Trice, David Tucker, Tony Tucker, Adam Wise and Katherine Wyatt. Also, pray for our military, law enforcement, our country and first responders
Reminder of the True Meaning of Christmas: “Mary was chosen; how could this be true/A young girl and virgin was who they all knew/Cousin Elizabeth, too, six months was she/Her son was John, a “forerunner” he would be/Lept in her womb when the news was told/The King Mary carried they would all soon behold/Not in a great palace but a stable he’d lay/Not on fine linens but a manger with hay/An angel told shepherds the glad news they’d sing/A star led the Wise Men, their gifts they would bring/When he heard of the birth, King Herod would seek/But God up above Jesus’ safety would keep/So that you and I could know His great love/And one day be with Him in Heaven above/So remember that Christmas is not ‘going all out.’/It’s a season of miracles…THAT’S what it’s about.” – Elaine G. Brock
I pray you all have a wonderful week and may it be filled with love, joy, peace and blessings. Remember: if you have news, please email me at mimmiepots@gmail.com. I would truly appreciate any news. People from here and those who have moved from our area but still want to keep in touch through the newspaper are hungry for news from home. Until next week, Happy Trails to You.
